Knowledge management

What is knowledge management?

Knowledge management is capturing, organising and making findable the knowledge in an organisation, so everyone can use the same, current information.

Also known as knowledge managementknowledge baseknowledge retention

Knowledge lives in documents, systems and above all in the heads of experienced employees. Without knowledge management people search for a long time, the same question gets different answers, and knowledge leaves with the people who hold it. How AI solves that is covered under knowledge management with AI.

AI changes how that works. With RAG you search your own documents in plain language and get an answer with the source, instead of a list of files. That turns a knowledge base into something people actually use.

It is often the first layer of an AI Operating System: first make knowledge findable, then connect systems and let AI take over work.
