AI assistant
What is an AI assistant?
An AI assistant helps a person with a task, such as writing, searching or summarising, but takes no actions by itself unless the user asks.
ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot and Claude are well-known examples. They draft texts, summarise documents and meetings, answer questions, translate and help with analyses. They make individual employees faster, but the person keeps doing the work and deciding. That is how an assistant differs from an AI agent, which carries out tasks in your systems by itself.
An assistant only becomes truly valuable when it knows your company’s knowledge. With RAG you let it answer from your own documents, with the source attached.
What makes a good AI assistant?
You recognise a good AI assistant by four things. It works inside the tools your team already uses. It answers from your own sources and shows where the answer comes from, so you can check it. It only sees what the user is allowed to see. And your data is processed under business terms that you record in your AI policy. Which tool fits best mostly depends on where your team already works: if that is Microsoft 365, Microsoft Copilot is already built into your apps.
We build such an assistant on your own knowledge as part of knowledge management with AI.
