Digital transformation
What is digital transformation?
Digital transformation is changing how an organisation works, delivers and makes decisions using digital technology, not just digitising what it already did.
Digitising is putting a form online. Transforming is asking whether that form is still needed when your systems already hold the data. Digital transformation therefore touches processes, roles, systems and culture at once, and AI is currently its strongest accelerator. How to introduce AI so that it sticks is covered under AI implementation.
Many transformation programmes stall at the same point: new tools are stacked on top of old ways of working, and the systems do not talk to each other. The result is more screens, not less work. That is why we start with the processes and the data, with connected systems (system integration) as the basis for everything that follows.
At Burgstate this works in a fixed monthly rhythm: agreeing together what needs to be in place in the coming weeks, building and testing in short iterations, and an owner for each application from the department that will use it. Adoption is not an afterthought but part of every month. What the organisation eventually looks like is described by an AI operating model.
