AI Act
What is the AI Act?
The AI Act is the European law that sets rules for developing and using AI, with stricter requirements the more high-risk an application is.
The AI Act is the first broad European legislation for artificial intelligence. The idea: the more high-risk an AI application, the stricter the requirements. A system that decides about people (credit, job applications, healthcare) falls under heavier rules than a text generator for internal notes.
For most of the SMB applications we build, it is manageable in practice, as a lot falls into the lighter categories. But two things apply broadly: transparency, people should know when they are dealing with AI, and AI literacy, your employees need to understand enough about AI.
Our stance is level-headed: do not let it scare you, but do not ignore it either. In an AI audit we include which category your applications fall under and what that concretely asks of you. This is information, not legal advice.
