ERP system

What is an ERP system?

An ERP system is business software that supports core processes such as finance, purchasing, inventory, production, projects and HR in one coherent system with one database.

Also known as ERPenterprise resource planningERP software

ERP stands for enterprise resource planning. Well-known packages in the Netherlands are AFAS, Exact, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP and Odoo. The idea is that departments work with the same data: an order in sales is immediately visible to inventory and the accounts. In practice the ERP rarely stands alone, and connecting it to your CRM, online shop and industry software is a matter of system integration.

An ERP implementation is a big project: setting up processes, migrating data, bringing people along. Afterwards, manual work often remains at the edges, where the ERP has to talk to other systems or where documents come in that someone has to retype. That is where AI and automation gain the most, without replacing the ERP itself.

For AI, the ERP is often the most important source, because it holds the financial and operational truth. For EVOKE we connected AFAS and built a uniform data layer with automatic checks on top of it, so questions about the figures can be answered in plain language. Through your ERP's API, an AI agent can read data and, within agreed limits, take action.
